It's Poster Time.

Two new posters I designed for the shop.  I love being able to offer a few prints in larger sizes and I'm finding it a fun challenge to design things for a larger size.  I've added another music education style poster, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for all those suzuki teachers out there or for a musical themed nursery.  

And I showed this poster a few weeks back on Pinterest which is now available. 

I made a few prototypes of scarves with the feathers and arrows and once I iron out all the kinks I'll have a limited edition of arrow and feathers coming up soon.  

New Things

I just finished a small shop update with some new things I've been working on.  I can't believe how fast the year is flying by.  I wanted to get in some new items before the Bust show in mid-April.

I created a few new card sets including the feathers and arrows, animal constellations and a Peter and the Wolf set that includes all the animals/instruments and their themes that would work well in a music classroom.

Woodland Frames - Updated Patterns

Woodland Frames Pattern. I wanted to update my Woodland Frame pattern and came up with a few new animals for the mix. 

Like the first version, I made this into a pattern at Spoonflower. 

 

I can't believe how quickly 2012 is flying by,  I'm really excited about the new things I've got in store creatively this year.  Now that we've been in NYC for 6 months, things are finally starting to feel more settled.  I've got a craft show coming up in a few weeks, BUST Spring Craftacular that I'm pretty excited about and I'm hoping to take Paper Sparrow on the road a little this summer.  Should be fun! 

Musician in the Rain

Inspired by Doisneau's famous photograph of the same name, I painted these musicians on a rainy day in London.

It's raining, it's chilly, the streets are gray

Despite the lousy weather, it's still a busy day. 

Rush hour in the city, waiting for a cab,

Going home from work, the weater is so drab.

 

Rex the raccoon is a generous fella,

He lets Burt the fox, share his umbrella.

Felicity fox needs to keep her cello dry,

"My fur is getting wet", you will hear her sigh.

Basil the brown bear doesn't enjoy the rain,

He watches the water speeding down the drain.

Trying to protect his newspaper from the storm

So he can read it at home, where  it's dry and warm.

Randy the fox wears his determined face,

He has to hold on tight to his sales briefcase.

 

So many creatures are caught out in the rain,

But it won't be long 'til the sun comes out again. 

Pictures at an Exhibition - Animal Woodland Frames

Another take on my Woodland frames, this time featuring more animals and fun wallpaper.

The mini hedgehog was fun to draw, he's got on a bright coat for the spring weather.

Cats in Photobooths Take 2

I posted a few mini paintings of cats in photobooths a few weeks back, but decided to go with a digital illustration for this print.   It features 30 different cats in outfits and hats on a "yearbook" style page.  I was going to give them names like Leslie Flufferbottom and Camila Pondwater but I thought that might be a bit too wacky.

This week we've had gorgeous weather, so we've been sipping peach tea and day dreaming about summer road trips and italian ice.   Does it feel like spring where you are?

Wonderful Narwhals

I wanted to re-vamp the narwhal pattern I've had up on Spoonflower for over a year.  It's been one of my most popular patterns, but since I've learned some new technqiues for making patterns I wanted to make a collection of coordinates to go with it and some new color schemes. 

I made this one in a few different color schemes.

The swatches for the Feathers and Arrows came in and they look great, I'm planning to make a dress out of the arrows fabric soon.  I can't wait for warmer weather to wear some new dresses.

Updated

I couldn't believe my eyes when it started getting dark this evening and I realized I'd worked through the whole weekend. I'm having so much fun concentrating on my shop this year, that sometimes I get carried away and time flies.  

I ended up taking photos of all my new cards, and all the greens and blues had me wishing for spring.

It's a good reminder on those days when you're just having a tough go at it or when you just want winter to end so you can spend time outside.  With all this gloomy weather, I have to remind myself to have a positive thought and remember that sunshine is just around the corner.   Here's to a great new week!  Hope you had a smashing weekend :)

Two Foxes at Ascot

I'll be back tomorrow with the 4th anniversary sale details and coupon - but I wanted to share a few new paintings I've worked on in the past few weeks.

These two are spending a day at the races, it's a mix of Ascot and My Fair Lady, inspired by this vintage photo.   I wonder what they looked like from the front.  I've had this pinned to my Vintage Style board in Pinterest.
