I'm really interested to see how the colors will translate at spoonflower.

Animal Alphabet Book and a Unicorn Shirt

I just received my copy of The Amazing Animal Alphabet Book and I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I had it printed up by blurb.com and loved how it turned out. 

The blurb publishing tool was really easy to use and I love the size of the book.  It's even got a glossy cover :) And there's an ebook version available for ipad which is just giving me another reason to want an ipad.

Cats in a Photobooth: Set One

I've started a mini series of Cats in a photobooth inspired by so many wonderful vintage photobooth photos.

I painted this in black, silver and white on kraft paper.  I love painting on kraft paper because the texture is different than regular watercolor paper.

Cute Animal of the day: Sloth

Thanks so much for your lovely words on the cards and the 4-year anniversary coming up, it's an exciting time for Paper Sparrow and I've been using all my creative energy painting up a storm.

New Things and Shop Updates

I've been working diligently on Paper Sparrow since the beginning of the new year and am really enjoying the new creative avenues I've been able to go down.  I've designed 6 new cards for the shop.

Two cards for Easter, two wedding congratulations cards and two birthday cards.

I'm really excited to share some new things I've been working on soon.  Plus, Paper Sparrow's 4th Anniversary is coming up on March 5th, so I'll be having something special for my shop too. Hope you're having a great week :)

Two French Foxes

I had a lot of fun painting these two and making her outfit chic with a cape :)   I'll have a few more new paintings over the coming days.  I hope you enjoyed the weekend, I'm already noticing the longer days and a spring feeling in the air, I can't wait for spring and summer :)

Everett and Lillian - Reading Foxes

I've been enjoying the snowy weather staying inside and painting this.  My mum wrote a poem based on the sketch a few months ago and I'm finally getting around to painting it.

The Amazing Animal Alphabet Band

This is one of the longest poems we've worked on and I've been so excited to share it.

 

I'd love to hear which is your favorite animal and instrument.  I like the lion and the badger the best, but I also like the rhyme for the Noseflute.  Do you have a favorite? 

We plan to submit this and a few other poems to publishers.  If we don't get anywhere, we're researching how to best self-publish this book.  I hope you enjoy it.  There's one mis-spelled word at the end, but it's a work in progress.  If anybody has any advice on publishing submissions or self-publishing, we're all ears. 

 

Lepus Major, Ursa Major and Felis Major

These are the other three constellation paintings in this series.  I will likely finish out the series with another  few here and there.

Felis Major the Cat playing Piano, another one that's no longer recognized.

Ursa Major, the bear playing violin.  Don't mind his bad posture, he's fiddlin' away.

Lepus Major, a hare playing ukulele and tambourine. 

  The other two are Noctua - the owl and Vulpecula - the fox.   I've just listed these in the shop with a few other prints. 

I mentioned the other day I had plans to make this a really productive year.  In past years I always find myself with tonnes of ideas for paintings but little time to make them happen.  This year, I'm making time to paint and draw every day.   I've got a really long and exciting poem to share tomorrow, so check back to see that soon.
