Daily Animal Doodles: Day 20 & 21

I'm still catching up on my Doodles for August, but I'm sure I'll be on track as the month ends (fingers crossed).  I'm definitely getting into the Autumn feeling, its my favorite time of year.  My squirrel is enjoying a restful time at home in his tree.

Eek! And although its a little early for the Holidays, this Reindeer has made friends with some Robins.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 17, 18 & 19

I'm still playing catch up on my animals.  Today I've got Camel, BlueJay and Sloth.  I drew a Camel like the one we saw in a Tunisian zoo.  It was probably the most memorable vacation we went on when I was a kid.  The zoo we went to had about 10 pens, the lion being behind a 4ft wall with no cage and the zookeeper nudging it to wake it up.  Then, they took a out a giant python which people put around their necks.  I remember it being around my Dad's neck and my Mum freaking out.  They also fed a Camel a bottle of coke and when I googled it, it turns out quite a few people have seen it.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 13 and Day 14

With only 5 minutes to spare, I'm getting these posted before I get more behind, this weekend flew by and I've been working all day long on my Wes Anderson blog party projects, only 2 more days :) 

Yesterday's animal was Woodpecker.  I love woodpeckers, beautiful birds.

Some of my dog-loving friends have been telling me to draw some dogs, so I thought Daily Animal Doodles would be a good start to practice.  I don't think I pulled off these breeds quite right yet, in fact, I tried to get paul to guess them, but I think he only got the one dog and the cat right, so I knew then that I hadn't quite acheived the subtle differences.  More practice  to come, I'll have to work on some more requests soon.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 9

Today's animal is Zebra.  I was a little worried about drawing these but I'm really happy about how it turned out.  I started with the Animal Alphabet idea of a Zebra playing a Zither and turned it into a family band.   Although we never had family music nights that included my parents, my sister and I often had to entertain the family and guests with duets.  So many duets, I'm sure I could play some of them from memory.  So here is my Zebra Family Band Solution.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 8

I was a little worried that we wouldn't get these up today since our internet was out most of the morning, it was a slow start to the week, but it turned out to be a good thing to not be attached to the computer all morning, I actually got a lot done. 

Originally these Robins were Christmas themed, but it's truly too early for that, so I made them Fall Robins instead.  I'm really looking forward to actually having some fall weather this year when we move, its definitely my favorite season.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 6 and Day 7

One week into August already, I can't believe how fast time is flying by.  I finished up my Moose this morning (oops!) but I've been trying to take more time off on the weekends, which is a pretty rare thing for me to do!

Two frogs.  Its funny, because I drew frogs the same way when I was 10, when they were my favorite animal.  I had frog jewelry, charms, tons of stickers and all that other stuff that kids have.

Daily Animal Doodles: August Day 5

Today's animal is Polar Bear.  I went back to drawing them as a family although I suppose this is entirely inaccurate considering the male polar bear is twice the size of the female and the males wouldn't be allowed near the young anyway.  I'm a huge animal planet dork and I own the Planet Earth series which is a very engaging set if you haven't seen it.

Daily Animal Doodles: August Day 4

Today's animal is armadillo.  They're a little bit cute and a little bit ugly in real life since their faces are a bit hairy and they rustle around turning up leaves.  I was surpised to read that they're somewhat related to sloths and that armadillo means "turtle-rabbit" 

Armadillos have really poor eye-sight so these ones had to get close to see each other.

Daily Animal Doodles: August Day 3

Today's animal is Skunk, it was a suggestion for July, but I didn't quite have the room in the alphabet for it.  I went with the Skunk couple this time and thought that a lady skunk who wore flowers was kind of a silly idea since she'd like to smell like roses..

Its been really fun to draw their clothes.  It makes me want to do more sewing.

Paul's origami animal was pretty easy today.  I think it would be fun to make a few of these origami animals before the end of the month.

Daily Animal Doodles: August Day 2

Day 2's animal is a Tiger.  I decided to make these portrait style and draw them face on.  Its been a fun to experiment drawing animals that were outside my comfort zone before.
