Daily Animal Doodles: Raccoon and Rabbit

It feels great to get back into Daily Animal Doodles when I was feeling as though I was having some "off" days with drawing.  That's the hardest part about an everday challenge (and why I failed the 365 project) pushing through those tough days when things aren't going that well and finding the inspiration to move on.  Especially when you're a perfectionist like me. 

Alas, I really love how yesterdays Raccoon and today's Rabbit turned out.

She's wearing her favorite Dear Creatures dress from Modcloth.  (I spend way too much time on that site oohing and aahing over the gorgeous dresses)

And going back to the Musical Alphabet which I'll share an update on soon, is the Rabbit playing Recorder.

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 10

Today's animal was a little open ended with Insect.  It was a hard chocie between Grasshopper and Bumble Bee and in the end Bee won out, because its pretty awesome that a Bee makes honey when you think about it. 

These bees are a little silly, I think there's a baby in there.

I love this one that Paul did, especially the robot with heart eyes.

I'll be back later today with Sunday Sewing, I finished  my first Collete patterns, its pretty exciting.

July day 8 - time is flying we're almost one third of the way through this project for July.  I hope you're enjoying the alphabet of letters, I loved getting suggestions for July and have even had some for August too! Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 7

I was so excited when Fennec Fox came up as a suggestion for July.  I love these little guys and instantly remembered watching them as part of BBC's Planet Earth dvds.  Those are highly recommended by the way, they're so inspiring if you're into nature and animals and such. Anyway, the two foxes I remembered from the video were the Fennec Fox and the "Square-head" fox, as I was calling it, but really it is the Tibetan Sand Fox.

Did you know the Fennec Fox is related to the Chihuahua?  I heard that on Juniors Jeopardy last week.

There are 12 Vulpes foxes alltogether, so I drew 6 of them here for you.

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 6

July Day 6 - I thought an Eagle would be appropriate with it being Patriotic holidays week.  I've seen a few eagles and they're always quite a sight.  They're so majestic and they have huge legs, tons of feathers and you're in awe, something that in my opinion isn't captured in most airbrush car decals and what-not. Just sayin.

Two baby eaglets in the nest, they don't get a white head until the males reach 4 or 5.

Paul's eagle, Sam from the Muppets.  I used to LOVE the Muppets, I think my favorite characters were the two grouchy old men in the balcony.

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 5

Daily Animal Doodles, day 5.  Dinosaur.  I had planned something entirely different, but as usual things tend to change when you actually start doodling.  I wanted to doodle the peacful Brontosaurus but these two could easily be earth worms or something else entirely, whaddathink?

They're on a date, dressed up all fancy.

Paul's dino had me humming the theme to Jurassic Park all day, which led to an impromtu jam session of playing John Williams themes on cello.  (We're nerds okay?) But was a fun afternoon.

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 4

Here are our Deer doodles for Day 4.  Time seems to move so quickly on holidays and before you know it, its over and you've spent the whole afternoon eating delicious pies and making summery drinks.  Plus, to top it all off we had an explosion in the kitchen, which was entertaining to say the least.

My Deer is playing the drum, I'll be filling in the other "Animal Alphabet" letters throughout for a big reveal at the end of the month.

Paul drew the scene from Tommy Boy with the deer in the car.  If I had to pick a movie scene that involved a hardly believable scenario with an animal waking up out of a temporary coma, it would be Harry and the Hendersons because 1. Its bigfoot and 2. John Lithgow is one of my heros.  BUT, I know Paul would pick this scene because his a big Chris Farley fan.  Maybe those are the only two that exist anyway.

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 3

Day 3!  Today's animal is Chameleon.  As in "Karma karma karma karma karma cha-me-le-on" "he comes and goes" "he comes and goes"

I couldn't think of an instrument that the Chameleon could play that began with "C" so I broke away from the Musical Animal Alphabet for this one.  They're so cheery and happy.  One's saying "I like your spots" and the other says, "I like your stripes"

July: Day 1: Aardvark Day 2: Badger

Daily Animal Doodles: July Day 2

Day 2 of July.  Today is Badger.  I love badgers.  Once when we went to visit my Granny and Granfer we went to someone else's house (I can't really recall all the details -  I was probably about 8 or 9)  at night and they had put bowls of milk in the garden and turned the couch to face the garden and we stayed up late to see the badgers.  That's a big deal to an 8 year old.

My badger is based on a picture of Steve Martin in the 70s playing Banjo.

Daily Animal Doodles: Day 31

July Day 1! I'm so excited about the 2nd months list, there are some realy doozies (who says that?) this month and I tried to use almost all the suggestions I got.  I alphabetized the list so at the end of July, you'll have an alphabet of animals (minus the x).

Aardvark comes from the word "earth pig"
