Paul and I both woke up extremely early this morning and had more time than usual in the morning before he had to go to work. It was a great way to spend some extra time together and since it was early, there were tons of birds and lots of things to see. Gemini Springs is a short drive from our house, so we took some breakfast to go and enjoyed the morning before it got super hot. It's our go-to spot, we often lounge around or play croquet at this park.

We saw a few small gators which is good, because I heard it was mating season which makes me really nervous around them. Did you know if you encounter an alligator, then you're supposed to run zig-zag to get away? I've heard that a lot but I've only ever heard of one person actually being chased by a gator since I've lived in Florida.

We also heard two owls calling to each other. We saw these two owls in February of 2010 in the same spot. We didn't have to wait long until one flew to see the other one and actually spot them. I decided to take a little video. (I apologize for the shaking of the camera - you can see them feeding each other). Right before I turned on the camera they were making lots of noise and coo-ing and hooting, but in typical fashion, they stopped the minute I started recording.
